the THRESHOLD
When your business is working, but still relies on you too much.
You have delegated.
You have hired.
Revenue has increased.
And yet decisions, standards and pressure still default to you.
This is not a motivation problem, it is a structural one.
This is not a workbook.
It is not advice.
It is a mirror.
Introduction
Your business performs.
Clients are happy.
Revenue is stable or growing.
And yet too much still runs through you.
You are where decisions resolve.
You are where standards tighten.
You are where risk lands when it matters.
Not because you failed to delegate, but because authority and responsibility have not fully moved with the growth.
The Threshold will help you see this stage clearly - without asking you to fix it or push harder.
WHAT THE THRESHOLD IS
The Threshold is a short written reflection drawn from private work with founders whose businesses are performing, yet still organise themselves around the founder’s involvement.
It explores:
• Why delegation reduces workload but not dependence
• What it costs to remain central as complexity increases
• Where responsibility has not yet moved structurally
It does not offer tactics or a plan.
It offers clarity.
WHO THE THRESHOLD IS FOR
You have already done what should have helped.
You refined your offers.
You improved your systems.
You hired carefully.
You invested in your own development.
And still, when something wobbles, it routes back to you.
Because the issue is not one tactic or one layer, it is how responsibility is distributed across the entire structure.
Too much still resolves through you — in decisions, in standards, in tension.
You remain the point where uncertainty settles.
And you are no longer willing to be the contingency plan.
WHO THIS IS NOT FOR
This is not for:
Early-stage founders
Solo operators without delivery leverage
Product-led businesses
Anyone looking for motivation, tactics, or a plan to work harder
If this is for you, you will know.
If you recognise this pattern, the next step is not effort.
It is redesign.
The Diagnostic is where we test what is actually holding — and what is not.
But start here.
WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE
A short written diagnostic you can read in one sitting.
Inside it:
• Language for a stage most founders feel but rarely articulate
• A clear view of where responsibility is still concentrated
• A simple structural framework to see what has not yet shifted
There are no steps.
No tactics.
No “work harder” plan.
Just clarity about what is happening now.
ABOUT EMMA
Emma Vincent works with founders of established service businesses whose companies perform well, but still rely too heavily on their proximity.
She spent over twenty-five years in senior leadership roles inside complex organisations where authority carried consequence and structure had to hold under pressure. When responsibility sat in the wrong place, performance dropped. When escalation flowed upward by habit, pressure concentrated at the top.
For the past five years, she has worked privately with founders building and scaling service businesses, helping them redistribute authority, redesign structure and reduce founder dependence before it calcifies.
She believes business is not just commercial. It is formative. The way power is held inside a company shapes the lives of the people inside it.
Her work is structural and commercially grounded, but it is also rooted in the belief that leadership carries responsibility beyond performance. What you build reflects what you trust.
